Growing In God with Gary Hargrave

Dec 8, 2023

Web Description: The Bible speaks clearly of a war that takes place against evil. We see this happening before our eyes as Israel defends itself against an attack of unimaginable evil by Hamas. As Christians, we should be a voice to the world so that they can recognize that evil does exist and that it must be dealt with. In addition, we must be spiritually and physically helping Israel in this war against evil.

Show Notes: The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares in Matthew 13 speaks very distinctly to the fact that there is evil in the world that must be removed. This occurs at the end of the age when the Lord sends His angels to gather up the tares—the seeds of wickedness and evil planted by satan—and burn them with fire. The reality is that evil exists in the world, and you cannot hope, as some do, that evil will simply go away. You are going to have to deal with it.

We are witnessing before our eyes the growth of evil in the earth and our struggle against it. The war right now that Israel is engaged in against Hamas is a war against evil. What Hamas did on October 7, 2023, to innocent Israelis along the Gaza border was absolute evil and wickedness beyond words, beyond human emotion, beyond what could be done by normal people. Yet many today refuse to condemn Hamas, even justifying their actions, and instead blame Israel.

We are seeing college students, liberal institutions, and the world at large refusing to acknowledge evil for what it is. But within the Body of Christ there must be a moral clarity. We have been delivered from the domain of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s Son and our eyes should be opened to know what we are contending with. We are to put on the full armor of God so that we can stand against these forces of evil and wickedness. So I encourage you to find a way to be a part of this war against evil. Pray and have faith to release into the field the angels of God who root out the wickedness. But also comfort Israel and the Jewish people and help give to their needs during this time.

Key Verses:

Matthew 13:36–43. “Just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.”

Ephesians 6:12–13. “Take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day.”

Acts 26:17–18. “Open their eyes so that they may turn from … the dominion of Satan to God.”

Colossians 1:13–14. “He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.”

Genesis 6:3–8. “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth.”

Isaiah 5:20. “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil.”

Isaiah 40:1. “‘Comfort, O comfort My people,’ says your God.”

Quotes:

“The war against Hamas and all Islamic cults which are dedicated to a doctrine of annihilation is in fact a war against pure evil.”

“There is evil. There is wickedness. There is that which comes to the point of wickedness that God Himself will root it out and do away with it.”

“There are orphans now that are being created by the events of this war and certainly were created by the atrocities of October 7th, where whole families were killed. But at times mothers and fathers were killed right in front of their children.”

Takeaways:

1.    We should be believing and contending for the divine intervention of angelic forces to bundle the tares and root them out of the earth so that righteousness might manifest itself and the sons of God might be manifested in the earth—so that those who are giving themselves to the will of God and the Kingdom of God might clearly be revealed in the world.

2.    We relate to the salvation experience as the forgiveness of sins. But it is greater than that. It is being freed from the dominion of satan and having our eyes opened so that we would turn away from darkness. Being delivered from the forces of evil is a very real thing that we as believers must experience. And at some point, the world itself must have this release from evil.

3.    The biblical command to comfort God’s people is something that the Church and Gentiles should be doing right now. It is important to not only pray for Israel but also provide for the physical needs of the people. This is a major focus of Hargrave Ministries, and we give regularly to charitable organizations in Israel that are meeting those needs. These are organizations that we have a relationship with and trust. And we provide links to these organizations on our website so that anyone can give to Israel through them.
